Worn-Tin
ENI’ve already written several times on Worn-Tin’s account. This Californian artist got noticed last year with some outstanding singles. If I’m still waiting for an album, he recently gave us some consolation with 30 new demos. “I gave myself a goal, write 30 songs in 30 days. I started June 1st and went thru June 30th. The guidelines being I had to finish whatever I was working on that day but it could be about anything in any genre. I tried to stay open, saying a lot of what’s on my mind whether it was silly or weird,” he says. That’s a great idea. Artistic constraint often liberates, proof being given by this frantic rhythm that forced him to dig up some pop melodies that would probably have escaped him. The result is very impressive. Several of the demos we find here are amongst the best pop songs of 2020. Here are my favorites, the ones I’m looking forward to hearing after mastering: “Unit,” “They’re Here,” “Cinnamon” and “Bassboy.”
“I gave myself a goal, write 30 songs in 30 days. I started June 1st and went thru June 30th. The guidelines being I had to finish whatever I was working on that day but it could be about anything in any genre. I tried to stay open, saying a lot of what’s on my mind whether it was silly or weird“, qu’il dit.
