Tee Vee Repairmann

ENTee Vee Repairmann is the project of Warttmann Inc. creator, and it is exactly in line with the label. Oscillating between garage punk, egg punk, and garage pop, Tee Vee Repairmann reminds me of bands like Protex who made lo-fi fun their trademark. There is an innocent side to the band’s music that is ultimately closer to the spirit of power-pop than punk anger. These four tracks work perfectly well; here is our summer 2021 companion.

FRTee Vee Repairmann, c’est le projet du créateur de Warttmann Inc. Et c’est exactement dans la lignée du label. Oscillant entre garage punk, egg punk et garage pop, Tee Vee Repairmann me rappelle la musique de ces groupes à la Protex qui font du fun lo-fi leur fond de commerce. Il y a un côté très innocent dans la musique du groupe qui est finalement plus proche du spirit power pop que de la colère punk. Les 4 titres fonctionnent parfaitement bien, voilà notre compagnon de l’été 2021.

Delivery

Yes We Do

EP, Spoilsport Records, 25 June 2021

ENDelivery is a new Australian band that, a few days ago, released a great first EP. Because it features two members of Vacant Smiles (the excellent garage-pop band), I am not surprised to find well-constructed pop songs. If Delivery has more post-punk than most of the Melbourne scene, I think it is at its best when it plays pop melodies galore. In this respect, “The Explainer” is his real spearhead, a hit!

FRDelivery, c’est un nouveau groupe australien qui, il y a quelques jours de cela, faisait paraître un très bon premier EP. Parce qu’il emporte deux membres des Vacant Smiles (le très bon groupe de garage pop), on y retrouve logiquement des morceaux bien construits et parfaitement produits. Si Delivery a des aspects plus post-punk que la scène de Melbourne, je me dis qu’il n’est jamais aussi bon que lorsqu’il joue la carte des mélodies pop à gogo. A cet égard, “The Explainer” est son véritable fer de lance, un véritable hit 2021.

Laxisme

Premiere Sortie

ENLaxism is a band from Berlin that seems to be ready for a revolution, as you would expect from a German punk band. I don’t know what’s going on across the Rhine, but many of the bands that come out of there seem to be angry with their hierarchy. Laxism is no exception to the rule, but it truly hits the nail on the head when he gives us melodies to hold on to. This is the case with “Le Bureau”, a song sung in French in which Laxisme swaps its punk spirit for a more early 2010s rock’n’roll. It couldn’t be better than that.

FRLaxisme, c’est un groupe originaire de Berlin, comme on l’attend d’un groupe de punk allemand, semble être prêt à la faire la révolution. Je ne sais pas ce qui se passe outre-Rhin, mais beaucoup des groupes qui en sont issus semblent être en colère contre la hiérarchie. Laxisme ne déroge pas à la règle. Et lorsqu’il nous donne des mélodies auxquelles nous raccrocher, il faut mouche. C’est le cas avec “Le Bureau”, un titre chanté en français qui troque son esprit punk au profit d’un rock’n’roll plus début 2010s.

Atomic Suplex

“Who Do You Love?”

ENAtomic Suplex is one of those bands that exploit the entirety of a concept imagined after too many beers. Nobunny did the same thing. This means that Atomic Suplex is too much, and that the lack of variation is a limit to his music. It also means that, when it works, Atomic Suplex can deliver something truly unique. This is the case with “Who Do You Love?”, his single released at the end of April. Intense.

FRAtomic Suplex fait partie de ces groupes qui jouent à font un concept décidé lors d’une soirée trop arrosée. Nobunny a fait de même, avant d’être déchu de son statut de roi slacker. Cela veut donc dire que Atomic Suplex en fait trop, et que le manque de variations est une limite très vite ressentie. Cela veut aussi dire que, lorsque ça fonctionne, Atomic Suplex est capable de délivrer quelque chose d’unique. C’est le cas avec “Who Do You Love?”, son single paru à la fin du mois d’avril. Intense.
